This photo was taken as part of a documentary for an exhibition"The River" in 2002. The photos documented the daily lives of the people who lived along the Yangtsze River. These photos were taken just before much of the river was to be flooded with many of the towns along the river going under water. This was due to the construction of the Three Gorges Dam. All the photos were shot with my Nikon F-100 using T-max 100. This shot shows the local people near Chon Chinq playing Mah-Jong alongside the river whilst in the background others are preparing their fishing nets.

Very nice range of tonalities and a good capture of people being themselves.

Good shot - the old Mao suit and bamboo hat survive with the older generation, but for how much longer ...?
